Calling all would-be Paul Bunyan's! Your help is needed to keep Mitigwa Scout Reservation safe for our Scouts.

Over the past year, we have experienced the death of many large oak trees. Several threaten trails, campsites, and buildings. Your help is needed to take them down safely.

Not only will this give us plenty of firewood for the winter (and some for you too), we will be preparing oak lumber for our new Adirondack shelter campsite - with our own saw mill.

Chainsaw operators must be at least 21 years old, certified by the Camp Ranger, supply their own saw (in good working order), gas, oil, and wear the safety gear listed below:

  • Chainsaw chaps
  • Hard hat
  • Eye protection
  • Ear protection
  • Steel toed boots

Many other adults and older Scouts are needed to get the usable and unusable portions of the tree ready for processing. Because these trees are in the high-use areas of camp, all cleanup must be finished by the end of the day - it will be a lot of work!
