Cub Scout Summer Camp
Cub Scout Summer Adventure at Camp Akela!
Camp Akela, on the Mitigwa Scout Reservation
Camp Akela welcomes all Tiger Cubs (who have completed kindergarten), Wolf Cubs, Bear Cubs, and Webelos I and II Scouts for a summer of fun!
Camp Akela features Frankel Swimming Pool, Bear Creek Dining Lodge, several Forts and the WeCanDoIt Iowa History Area, Lake Fisher, Shooting Sports Ranges, a well-stocked Trading Post, the Richey Nature Cabin, and the Mitigwa Scout Reservation Museum among many other attractions.
Cub Scout Camp at Camp Akela provides the opportunities for a Scout to try hiking, boating, outdoor skills, field sports, shooting sports, rafts, swimming, woodworking, nature studies, and campfires; these are just some of the activities the Scout will have a chance to enjoy. Resident Camp at Camp Akela provides the staff and equipment. Scouts and Leaders provide the enthusiasm!
Throughout their time in camp, Scouts are given the opportunity to complete a variety of achievements and advancements while they enjoy the exciting program.
Mid-Iowa Council’s Cub Scout Resident Camp program is designed specifically for the needs and abilities of today’s Scouting youth. It is our desire that each Scout who participates will catch the Scouting fever and continue to the rank of Eagle Scout.
