The Jewel of Mid-Iowa Council~ Mitigwa Scout Reservation

Nestled on the hills above the river near Madrid, the magic of this place keeps calling to all that have been able to experience her glory.  Throughout your journey through scouting, we hope that you are blessed with the opportunity to enjoy all that the Mitigwa Scout Reservation has to offer.  The reservation has over 460 acres of rolling valleys and ridges. Hidden between two ridges, Lake Fisher is a man-made lake which provides adequate space for canoeing, rowing, kayaking, motor boating, fishing, and small boat sailing. The reservation has six year-round wood heated cabins available for weekend rental through the council service center, as well as a heated shower facility. A thirty foot, five-sided Rappelling Tower is located on Blank Ridge, as well as a C.O.P.E. course (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) on Frankel Ridge which includes a 400’ zipline, and a triangle event that includes Gap Step, Balance Beam and Skywalk events. Both the tower and the C.O.P.E. course can be reserved through the Maytag Scout Center by a troop or crew.

For a laid back Scouting Outing~ Grinnell Scoutland

Who would have known that a private piece of Scoutopia could be so close, yet so great!  Grinnell Scoutland is 40 acres of hardwood timber southwest of Grinnell, Iowa. The camp is ideal for Scouts who want to test their skills in a rustic outdoor environment. Scoutland offers primitive camping in seven campsites, a camporee field, and newly-enclosed 4-season facility with two fireplaces and electricity for weekend camping. Other amenities include water, a parade field with a flag pole, several shooting ranges, and a large parking area.

The Council's Southern Secret~ Foster Acres & Strother Lodge

Foster Acres is located on the northern edge of Ottumwa.  The grounds boast of amenities such as an open shelter building, 4-season Strother Lodge, primitive campsites, and a trail system wandering back into the forested grounds outside of the Indian Hills Community College Campus.  Explore the trails, find the Lightning Tree, hold a training, pitch a tent, and hang out for a weekend.  The Lodge and campsites are available year round. Come visit us!
