- Secure a meeting time with the head of your institution and a Mid-Iowa Council representative to discuss the details of a Charter organization’s commitment. The process includes
- Explain how Venturing works within the framework of the religious organization
- Determine the market for Venturing within the organization
- Describe adult leader roles and responsibilities
- Discuss prospects to fill adult leadership positions
- Identify program support and methods
- Review Memorandum of Understanding
- Discuss how the organization will handle the cost of the program ($20 for the yearly Charter, $15 for each adult and youth member). The minimum is 4 adults and 5 youth members. Typically individuals pay for their own membership.
- After your organization commits to the program, the charter organization and Council representative coordinate the recruitment of adult volunteers, as well as the planning and training meetings.
- Recruit the potential youth members. There are a variety of ways to recruit youth members into the Venturing program. The strategies and techniques are tailored specifically to your organization’s needs.
- Elect youth officers, train youth officers, develop program for the upcoming months. It is important to get as much planed as possible in a planning meeting for a Venture Crew as well as incorporate something fun into the meeting. It is difficult to retain youth if a Crew has planning meeting after planning meeting. The Venturing Staff advisor for Mid Iowa council will help to facilitate this process from beginning to end.
