Philmont Scout Ranch
Commonly referred to as “one of the highlights of my life” by any number of Scouts and Scouters, a trip to Philmont Scout Ranch is one you will never forget.
Philmont is a national high adventure base, owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America and located just south of Cimarron, New Mexico. Philmont is 137,000 acres of rugged wilderness in the Sangre de Christo Range of the Rocky Mountains. Elevations at the ranch range from 6,500’ at base camp to 12,441’ at the peak of Mt. Baldy. Imagine ten days of backpacking in some of the most beautiful backcountry in the lower 48 states.
Mid-Iowa Council Contingent Trip
Annually, the Mid-Iowa Council takes a contingent of approximately 45 youth and 10 adults (five crews, 10-12 per crew) from across the entire council. Each crew chooses their own itinerary. Travel is by chartered bus. All paperwork /arrangements are handled by the Council's Philmont Coordinators.
