Boy Scout Summer Camp
at Camp Mitigwa
Outing is the heart of Scouting…..
The promise made to every young man when he decides to give Scouting a try and join a troop in his neighborhood, is that of outdoor adventure. The imagination of an 11 year young man runs rampant when it comes to the adventure of the out of doors.
Not only at Scout summer camp, but also at a district camporee or a troop outing adventure, a Scout has the opportunity to acquire skills to make him more self-reliant. Learning by doing is the hallmark of outdoor education. The weekly troop meeting offers information and knowledge used in the out of doors activity for the month. A leader may describe a Scouting skill at a meeting, but the only way Scouts truly learn the outdoor skill is to do it himself on a troop outing.
