Governor's Luncheon for Scouting largest yet
In celebration of the Scouting Movement's impact on the children and families of Iowa, Mid-Iowa Council, Boy Scouts of America AND the Girls Scouts of Greater Iowa annually present the Governor's Luncheon for Scouting. Each year this event highlights the efforts of America's two greatest values programs for youth and features Iowa's First Citizen, our Governor.
On January 18, more than 600 Scouting supporters gathered for the 3rd annual luncheon at the Meadows Event Center in Altoona. Chaired by Wendy Waugaman, CEO of American Equity, this was the largest luncheon so far. The event theme was STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, and showcased Scouting's innovative education methods.
The Governor's Luncheon also officially 'kicks off' the Friends of Scouting Campaign - in a BIG way! Over $200,000 was raised for Iowa youth in just one day!
