Friends of Scouting supports families
Among the costs for a family involved in Scouting are registration, uniforms, events, and camp. Besides these, Mid-Iowa Council asks families, businesses and individuals to support the annual Friends of Scouting financial campaign. Where does this Friends of Scouting money go? Who really benefits from these monies?
• Registration fees go to the National organization which supports many aspects of pack and troop experiences.
• Mid-Iowa Council income comes from six areas - special events such as Popcorn sales, camping and activities income, foundations and investment income, United Ways and the largest category, Friends of Scouting.
• Friends of Scouting has income from several sources; business, grants, individuals, and Scouting families, which is the largest segment.
• Friends of Scouting income supports many aspects of the council’s program including leader training, camp program and properties, council service center and council staff.
• The biggest benefit from investing in Scouting is the impact the program has on its members. It’s impossible to put a price tag on character development!
Families will have the opportunity to participate in the Family Friends of Scouting annual drive. Each Cub Scout pack and Boy Scout troop has been asked to have a presentation at a meeting.
Remember, your investment in the future of Scouting returns great benefits!
